How to Convert Time Zones Easily for Remote Meetings

  1. Add every participant's city using the search box. You can type a city (Berlin), a country, an abbreviation (EST, PST, CET, EEST, JST) or any IANA zone (America/Chicago).
  2. Pick a reference city. The first card is the reference; click the star on any card to make it the reference. The slider and planner follow its day.
  3. Drag the time slider or click an hour in the meeting planner. Every city card updates instantly, including the date if it is already tomorrow or still yesterday somewhere.
  4. Find the overlap. Columns outlined in green are inside working hours for all cities.
  5. Share it. Use Share Link for a URL that opens the same cities and time, or Copy Time Summary to paste a clean list into Slack, Teams or email.

What Is Daylight Saving Time (DST)?

Daylight Saving Time moves clocks forward, usually by one hour, during the warmer months to add evening daylight, then back again in autumn. Because a region in DST has a different UTC offset, the time difference between two cities can change by an hour for a few weeks a year — for example between Europe and the United States, which switch on different dates. Most of Asia, Africa and South America don't use DST at all, and in the Southern Hemisphere DST runs from roughly October to April.

TimeZoneConverter uses your browser's built-in Intl.DateTimeFormat engine and the IANA time zone database, so DST rules are applied automatically for any date you choose. Each card shows whether that city is on DST or standard time and when its next clock change happens.

How to Calculate a UTC Offset

A UTC offset is the difference between local time and Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). Offset = local time − UTC time. If it is 15:00 in Sofia while UTC is 12:00, Sofia is at UTC+3.

Converting between two zones by hand

  1. Subtract the source offset from the source time to get UTC.
  2. Add the target offset to get the target local time.
  3. Adjust the date if the result goes past midnight.

Example: 10:00 in New York (UTC−4) → 10 + 4 = 14:00 UTC → 14 + 9 = 23:00 in Tokyo (UTC+9).

Frequently Asked Questions

How to convert time zones easily for remote meetings?

▾

Add the cities of every participant, then drag the time slider or click an hour in the meeting planner grid. All cities update at once, and green cells show hours that fall inside normal working hours (9:00–18:00) everywhere. Copy the summary or share the link so everyone sees the same time in their own zone.

What is Daylight Saving Time (DST)?

▾

Daylight Saving Time is the practice of moving clocks forward by usually one hour in the warmer months and back again in autumn. It changes a region's UTC offset, for example New York moves from UTC−5 (EST) to UTC−4 (EDT). Countries switch on different dates and many never use DST, which is why time differences change during the year.

How to calculate UTC offset?

▾

A UTC offset is local time minus Coordinated Universal Time. If it is 15:00 in Sofia when it is 12:00 UTC, the offset is UTC+3. To convert, subtract the source offset to get UTC, then add the target offset. TimeZoneConverter does this automatically and shows the current offset on every city card.

How do I convert EST to PST?

▾

Pacific Time is 3 hours behind Eastern Time all year, because both regions switch DST on the same dates. 9:00 AM EST is 6:00 AM PST, and 9:00 AM EDT is 6:00 AM PDT.

How do I convert UTC to my local time?

▾

TimeZoneConverter detects your browser's time zone automatically. Add UTC, set the UTC time with the slider, and your local city card shows the converted time including any DST offset.

Is TimeZoneConverter free and private?

▾

Yes. It is 100% free, needs no account, and all conversions run locally in your browser using the JavaScript Intl API. No times, cities or personal data are sent to any server.

What is the difference between EST and EDT?

▾

EST (Eastern Standard Time) is UTC−5 and is used in winter. EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) is UTC−4 and is used during Daylight Saving Time, roughly from March to November in the United States and Canada.

Can I share a converted time with my team?

▾

Yes. Click Share Link to copy a URL that stores your selected cities and time. Anyone opening it sees the same moment converted into every city, or you can use Copy Time Summary to paste a plain-text list into Slack, Microsoft Teams or email.
